ROBBINSDALE CRIME PREVENTION ASSOCIATION
HISTORY OF ROBBINSDALE CRIME
PREVENTION ASSOCIATION

The Robbinsdale Crime Prevention Association
became incorporated on January 13, 1987.
The
organization was formed to provide crime prevention
education, a reward fund, and "buy" money.

Members have been actively involved in National
Night Out, Block Watches, Public Safety open
houses, as well as providing programs and literature
for elementary schools.

Members played an important role in the success of
the referendums required to build the new Public
Safety Building.

The statues in front of the Public Safety building are
also a result of the RCPA's efforts.

BLOCK WATCHES are neighbors working
together to be alert and look out for each
other. They distribute crime prevention
materials, educate residents, and take
action to deter crime. When illegal or
suspicious activity is occurring, neighbors
inform the police.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is celebrated
across the United States on the first
Tuesday in August. This night shows the
strength of citizen involvement in crime
prevention. On this night in August, block
clubs, apartment clubs, and other citizen
groups hold special events throughout the
metropolitan area.

For holding a National Night Out party on
your block, contact Detective Jonathan
West at (763) 531-1220.
